Parent Educator • Former School Social Worker • AuthorCreator of the Stretchy Brain Framework™

When I was raising my four children, I had a clear picture of the kind of mom I wanted to be. I wanted my children to feel safe bringing their emotions to me. I wanted to listen, guide, and respond with patience.
But knowing what I valued and knowing how to live those values in a difficult moment were not always the same thing.
When I was overwhelmed or triggered, I did not always know how to manage my own emotions, let alone help my children with theirs. I did not need more pressure to get everything right. I needed help understanding what was happening beneath the surface—in my children and in me.
During 18 years of homeschooling, I also saw how differently my four children learned, communicated, and responded to pressure. That experience taught me to become curious about the person underneath the behavior.
That gap between the parent we want to be and the way we sometimes respond is not proof that we are failing. It is an invitation to become more aware.

My professional journey began in social work. As a former school social worker, I learned to look at behavior within the larger story of a child’s development, relationships, environment, stress, and emotional needs.
Today, I bring social work together with child development, family systems, nervous-system regulation, communication, and the DISC Model of Human Behavior. I turn those perspectives into practical tools for parents, educators, school social workers, and other helping professionals who care for children and families.
A brain-based, relationship-centered way to understand the child behind the behavior.

A FEW THINGS I BELIEVE
These principles shape every book, workshop, resource, and conversation.
Writing is another way I help children and the adults who care for them feel seen. My books and practical resources turn brain science, personality, and emotional regulation into ideas families can use in everyday moments.

BEYOND THE WORK
These days, you will often find me spending time with my husband, our four grown children, and our growing crew of grandchildren. I also enjoy nature walks, a good cup of tea, plenty of laughter, and life with Hubie—a little dachshund with a very big personality.
YOUR NEXT STEP
You do not need to become a perfect parent or educator. You need understanding, practical tools, and permission to take the next step one moment at a time.
